This seminar will explore how insights from a pivotal chapter in the Civil Rights movement can inform today’s efforts to achieve healthcare equity. The brief documentary reveals how Medicare was used to end segregation in hospitals, offering a historical lens to understand ongoing challenges in healthcare access and justice. Dr. Defoe will moderate a conversation examining how these past successes can help identify actionable strategies and solutions for advancing equity in today’s contentious climate.
