American Medical Women's Association (AMWA) membership is comprised of physicians, residents, medical students and health care professionals. AMWA is the only multispecialty organization dedicated to advancing women in medicine and improving women's health.
Association of Women Surgeons (AWS)
The Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) is committed to supporting the professional and personal needs of female surgeons at various stages in their career - from residency through retirement. Founded in 1981, the AWS works together with organizations like the American College of Surgeons to set up programs and bring down barriers that remain for women in surgery.
With over 1700 female surgeons, the AWS is one of the largest organizations dedicated to enhancing the interaction and exchange of information. Truly an international union, the AWS has members in 15 countries, including: Australia, Beirut, Canada, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Malaysia, South Africa, Switzerland and the Unites States of America.
Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM)
Drexel University's Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program offers an intensive one-year program of leadership training with extensive coaching, networking and mentoring opportunities aimed at expanding the national pool of qualified female candidates for leadership in academic medicine, dentistry and public health.
Since 1995, ELAM has enrolled over 700 female leaders in academic medicine, dentistry and public health. More than 50% of them currently hold senior administrative positions, at more than 180 institutions of higher education and health care in the United States and Canada.
Executive Leadership in Academic Technology and Engineering (Elate)
The Executive Leadership in Academic Technology (ELATE) program at Drexel University launched in 2012, modeled after ELAM but tailored to women in the STEM fields. The program has been recognized with awards from the National Science Foundation, the Sloan Foundation, and the Henry Luce Foundation.
President's Council of Cornell Women (PCCW)
The President's Council of Cornell Women(PCCW), a group of highly accomplished alumnae, works to enhance the involvement of female faculty as leaders within Cornell University and supports the completion of research leading to promotion and tenure. Since its inception in 1992, grants from this organization have awarded more than $462,000 to 151 women and programs at Cornell, including several at WCM.
